2020 Design Version 11

2020 strives to provide designers with the tools to create great designs in less time with more accuracy. To achieve this end, 2020 provides the largest collection of content catalogs and the release of 2020 Design version 11 continues to grow this library. The latest release adds over 300 Wilsonart® abstract, solid, stone and woodgrain countertop textures and nearly 1,500 paint colors from Sherwin-Williams® to the library. Designers can now match paint colors in 2020 Design to the actual Sherwin-Williams colors to provide clients with even more realistic designs. 2020 Design version 11 also expands the included generic catalog library with over 100 new moldings, toe kicks, and corbels to offer more flexibility and realism in the designs. For ease-of-use, there are three new wizards for door and window, cabinet door and customer material to streamline the design process.

“Customers want to see what they are buying and how their counter will look with all the other kitchen elements,” stated Alison DeMartino, marketing communications director, Wilsonart. “By partnering with 2020 to provide our catalog content to designers, we help take the guesswork out of what style of countertop will look best in a kitchen. With the realistic renderings generated by 2020 Design, clients can see how their finished kitchen will look before anything is ordered.”

“We are excited to provide designers the ability to showcase Sherwin-Williams paint color selections in 2020 Design,” stated Jeff Winter, director of marketing, Sherwin-Williams. “Wall color is an integral part of any design and now designers and their customers will have the opportunity to easily try different palettes to envision how their finished design will look. We believe this eases the design process by ensuring the finished room colors and overall design meet customer expectations.”

To enhance the realism and feel of scene visualizations, 2020 Design version 11 also provides new lighting capabilities by adding support for Physical Light Properties and thirty Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) profiles. Using IES profiles, designers can accurately replicate the true visual effect of the lights in their design.

“The addition of IES lighting profiles opens up a whole new world of lighting visualization options to kitchen and bath designers,” stated Roberto Ferrer, 2020 Design product manager. IES profiles can show the overall spread of light in a space for a specific source, by providing this level of detail early in the design process a designer can be sure a customer is getting the desired ambience they want which plays an important role in their overall satisfaction.”

For those looking for a more casual yet artistic viewing option, the new rendering sketch mode renders in a format that resembles hand-drawn sketches. It renders quickly and provides another way for designers to present their ideas to clients. Users will also experience general rendering speed improvements across most rendering modes in 2020 Design version 11.
