Hi Alicia,
You cannot change the depth of a single placement zone but you can turn them off for any given wall. Go in to the properties of the wall and then in the type tab uncheck the boxes for inside and outside under placement zone(s). That way you can turn off the placement zones for the short return wall and the other placement zones should pop back out to full size.
