Okay….so this is weird and awkward.
People.
I don’t know how other folks use the people in the Cloud, but I like to show them *interacting with the kitchen*. Ignoring the Adults with Kids (because those people are interacting with the kid – so that’s its own thing)…
The problem is, at least here in Canada, the women I have to choose from are:
Woman who looks like she’s showing off a fridge on Wheel of Fortune
Woman posing seductively with a large handbag
Woman holding her coat like she’s about to leave
Woman in skinny jeans with her arms out
So I ALWAYS use Skinny-Jeans-Arms-Out Woman because I can put her in front of a fridge, and she’s getting something from the fridge. I put her in front of a peninsula or a cooker and she’s *doing* something.
The Men are:
Man with his hands in his pockets
Man with one hand in his pocket
Man talking on phone
Man Doing Something on Tablet
So….I never use any of the standing Men, because they are apparently too busy to do ANYTHING to help Skinny-Jeans Woman. She’s on her own.
Also – people of colour. The only people of colour are *sitting* – so…. I can never really portray them as the homeowner – always the guest. Usually the homeowner is standing and cooking/serving/etc and guests are sitting.
In fact, the people of colour are the only seated figures who look like they are relaxed, enjoying themselves and happy to be there. The other seated figures are doing something else (which makes them difficult to seat at a table/peninsula/island) or they look bored/prissy/ready to leave.
So to be a Debby Downer – but the way *I* use people – I would just love to have some men and women of all colours (we have a lot of immigrants here – and they buy kitchens!!) reaching out in a generic way so they can be put in front of a fridge, a pantry pullout, they can be handing someone a glass of wine or bottle of water, and some seated people looking happy.
And please get the bloody men off the phone! LOL
Thanks for letting me rant!
