If you don’t have a placement zone (dotted line) then 2020 isn’t seeing the wall as a wall. If you need placement zones (to generate an elevation) and for some reason are unable to get them, create a wall of the required size, turn it into a Construction Line and move it into the position you want.
As for overlapping elevation lines, not sure what you mean – can you post an example?
