Ariana ThompsonParticipantGood morning all!
So… looks like due to COVID supply chain issues, we will not get access to the chips we need to upgrade our hardware for V12 until the new year – let alone get another computer to run 2020 (which we were planning on).
Am I correct that after the August 31st deadline, we will still have access to SUPPORT – just no cloud access? Nothing else will change?
Thanks – Ariana

Santiago Morales2020 ExpertHello Ariana,
Which Version are you running currently V11.12? If that is the case, I would not be worried. Many users have reported that V12 runs as fast if not better than V11.12 on the same hardware.
My recommendation is to install the latest version of V12 and try it out. Both can be installed on the same machine.
Hope this helps,
Thank you,
Santiago

Ariana ThompsonParticipantHi Santiago,
We’re running V11.12.1.35. My boss had the V12 requirements printed, and our computers did not conform. Are you saying the specs “required” for V12 are not really required?
I’m confused.

Santiago Morales2020 ExpertHello Arianna,
2020 provides “Recommended” specs to optimize users experience with the product. If the hardware does not meet these specs, it might limit the availability of some functionalities. In some cases, in might only affect the performances in some areas.
If your hardware runs V11.12, most likely you will not experience a degradation in service.
Thank you,
Santiago

Ariana ThompsonParticipantOh…. okay. If I may: perhaps note that in the recommendation literature.
*Implying* in your system requirements that one’s computer NEEDS to be upgraded could be an unnecessary financial burden for a smaller, struggling business. As for us, we have been engaged in phone calls and emails with various suppliers, as have our computer guys – for apparently no reason.
I’ll talk to the higher ups about your recommendations.
Cheers

Santiago Morales2020 ExpertHello Ariana,
Thank you for your comment. I have reviewed the System Requirements. I am not sure how to make it more clear that it is not absolutely needed but I will bring it up with the right individuals.
Thank you,
Santiago
