I understand how to make a cathedral ceiling, however, does anyone know if it is possible to create a peak at the center of the room? I want 4 planes to my ceiling. TIA!

For ceilings like that, I use the triangular shapes in the Generic Sample catalogue.

The angled side becomes your ceiling, and the rest of the triangle is floating above the room.

Does that make sense?  I can snap a pic if unclear!

      Cheers,

Once you’ve made your ceiling with four triangles (one for each angle), you group them.

Then you can take the ceiling off to move things in the room and make changes, then put the ceiling back on like a hat for pretty pictures.

      Ariana,

I also just discovered you can use Solariums and change the textures. I dont think I’m chosing the correct triangles because once put together, the block each other and it still looks like a flat ceiling.

Changing the colour of the Solariums is a great idea!

If you still want to know the triangle technique, her are some pics.

Basically, if you want to apex of the peak to be…36″ higher than the walls, make the triangle 36″ high.

Can you attach a picture of the perspective with it completed? TIA!

The only issue with the solarium is there is a floor I can’t get rid of… SMH. There’s always something!

Sorry about the delay… LOL! I got the “You’re moving too fast!” message from the 2020bot.

      -sigh-

I don’t know why that first pic posted without the other ones!

Weird! – Here are the other pics.

Once you’ve done the two as shown, you then just finished off by doing it two more times, so you have four triangles.

Just remember when you are in the Render to turn OFF the visible ceiling!  This is your ceiling.

      Cheers!

Here is what mine is doing… not getting that hip roof look. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

      Weird.

I am using Triangle R (Hor) from the Wall Custom Shapes.

      What triangle are you using?

Can you snap a pic of the Attributes box of the Triangle?

      That’s really strange!

Does it make that weird block when it’s just floating in space next to your kitchen?  Or just when it’s put in contact with the walls?

Hi!  Where can I find this catalogue?  Or where do I find custom triangle shapes?

The custom shapes are a little tucked away! LOL!

Go to the VIEW ribbon, and click the Catalog Browser.

Select the Catalog ROOM1 – Sample- Generic

The custom shapes are under Architectural Elements.

I use the triangles, the cubes and the vertical and horizontal cylinders ALL the time – so I put one of each in my Idea Centre.

I recently had to do a small kitchen that had a slightly peaked roof with a skylight – and they wanted to hang a pot rack inside the skylight – so I HAD to render it.

ALL done in the custom shapes.
