Do I install over V11.8.0.53 or do I uninstall that version and then install V11.8.1?

Hi Marty,
Best practice is to remove the old version before installing the new one. If you go in to the control panel and go to programs and features and select Design you will be able to select change. Once you do that click next, then select remove. At this point you will be given the choice of a Complete or Basic uninstall. A complete uninstall removes everything except your design files. A Basic uninstall will remove your software but leave your catalogs so that when you upgrade you won’t have to reinstall all your catalogs.

Thanks Neil!
Should I just do the basic uninstall?

If you have less than 5 manufacturer catalogs installed I would do a complete uninstall and then just reinstall the manufacturer’s catalog. If you have more than that then Basic will do the trick and save you the time required to reinstall a bunch of catalogs.

Thanks! I have more than 5 so I will do the basic.

Just FYI, I tried an install ‘over the top’ of an earlier V11.8 and it was actually worse than doing a Basic Uninstall as it lost all my preferences when it installed.
So definitely, Basic Uninstall then install the new version. Not all the preferences stay up (the Assistants all switch back on even if they were turned off before) but definitely the best option.

🙁 Install crashes. Says there is an error, and it terminated.
Not liking the idea of wiping it out, and doing a new install yet AGAIN…

Hi Steve
Could it be possible to send us an image of the error so we can understand better what may be causing the problem.
Please send it to this address: residentialsupport@2020spaces.com
Thank you
