I am getting prepared for the exam.

Many people say you should adjust the settings in 2020 before starting the 72 hour part.

What exactly would you recommend adjusting?

I would appreciate you sharing tips helping to pass the exam successfully.

      Hi Anvar,

The general settings we have set as default are adequate to work with but if your question is what I would change in my preferences, then I only have two suggestions.

      1. Go to File > Preferences > Work Area … Put a check mark in the box for “disable placement zone drag setting”

What this does is it will allow you to move any item in your placement zones freely.

      2. In the same location … Work Area… check the box for “Display 3D shapes in elevation”

This will allow you to see your door styles, handles and pulls in the elevations you create.

Other than these two preference changes, I would make sure of one other thing. In the bottom right-hand corner of the screen there are a few different buttons there. I would suggest to turn on the Item Snap, Collision, Ortho, and Link.

These are the changes I would make to my program and I hope they help you out a bit more!

      Thank you, Kris.

      That was really helpful.

Other than that I’m having an issue creating a mechanical plans with 2020. I am thinking to outsource that to someone who knows Autocad. Or are we able to do this with 2020?

      Hi Anvar,

Im not exactly sure what you mean by “mechanical plans”. Might you be referring to the architectural plan (only walls, windows, and doors)?

      Let me know.

      Hi Anvar,

It is possible to show symbols in the design that would mark where the electrical and plumbing would be.

If you are looking for a study guide for the exam, you can find them here, even including complete CKBD Bundle Packages > https://store.nkba.org/collections/certification-exam-prep

      Hi Anvar,

You could find the symbols by selecting the ROOM catalog and then click on “Symbols” . The catalog will then provide you with a variety of different symbols to use in your design.
