I did an update last night of the AVG Free (just update, not a new install) and it crashed my 2020  this morning as soon as I start it up. I completely reinstalled the latest 2020 (11.4.1.31 I think), after downloading the 2.6gb file, and installing it. The screen come up and said, ‘Running for first time, blah blah blah…’ and it crashed.

I didn’t put two and two together until just now, and disabled my AVG… now my 2020 seems to run fine. I am going to try to re-install my AVG, or reconfigure it… or something just to get it to leave my 2020 alone… but I though I would pass my findings along in case anyone else is in the same boat this morning.

      Hi Steven

AVG antivirus has been causing 2020 design v11.4 to crash at startup. By adding an exception for an application in the AVG advanced options should fix the issue.
We have also contacted AVG to report this situation that is affecting our program.

      Regards

It’s odd, this is the first time it has done it. I did add the exception, so I am up and running now… but this is the first I have heard of the issue. Crisis averted… just wish I could get the morning back! lol Thanks Edith.

Updates to some antiviruses have caused this type of issues, we have reported this to the specific companies so they can addresses this situation.

I am glad to hear this is working now.

AVG used to be good but it has been bloatware for a long while and places a lot of demand on the system. Symantec, Mcafee and Nortons are also ones to avoid. AVG has also had issues with 2020 Design since V6.4! – lots of false positives.

I’m about to try Bitdefender but have been using Avast and Avira (free versions) with a monthly scan using Malwarebytes. All of these keep demand to a relative minimum and cause no issues with 2020 Design.
