I like to use objects to show locations of plumbing stub outs on my drawings.

I have been using user shapes (cylinders) but I would prefer something that will dimension from it’s center.

Any Ideas?

I use outlet and switch objects to show existing electrical positions but would also like them to position off their center points.

I can place the items horizontally to their center points but not vertically. I would also like the auto dimensions to reference center points.

Hi Kerry,

You can get a center line dimension on a user shape by going in to display settings, dimensions, auto dimensions, general, miscellaneous items and selecting user shapes.  Then check continuous center and apply and okay.

For the Wall Custom Shapes I use for plumbing and things like an electrical outlet I can get center measurements and placement horizontally but not vertically in the elevations using the method you describe.

What am I missing

Hi Kerry,

Which Catalogue/Shape are you using for those? I’m trying to duplicate that myself but not sure what you are using.

I’m going to add this to the wishlist – Plumbing and Electrical Symbols that show distance to centre for elevations and plans. This would be very handy.

Mike,

The plumbing (pipe) shapes I get from

Room/Architectural Elements/Custom Shapes/Wall Custom Shapes/Cylinder.F for pipes in  walls

and Cylinder.V for pipes in floors.

The outlets and Switches must now be accessed via the Cloud 2020 Decorative Items US

When I place the pipes using this method I can open doors on the sink cabinets and get a visual of their location which is very helpful.

This is also great for checking vent pipe location to hoods. Just look at them in Wireframe.

Absolutely – wish I’d known that before.

Neil, the dimension settings for those shapes aren’t under display settings, dimensions, auto dimensions, general, miscellaneous items and selecting user shapes – they are under floor decoration (well in ROOM_M anyway).

Also, there is no option for height – center. This is a little bit of a pain but not critical. Can you please add a request for a height-center to the elevation schema. The plan schema is fine.
