Merrill DencklauParticipantAll of a sudden, everything I move will only move in 3″ increments. From items in floorplan to elevations and even a point on a surface. I have item snap turned off. I’ve tried turning snap to zero in preferences as well. Using shift to override. Nothing works. Am I missing something? Thank you!

Neil WilsonParticipantHey Merrill,
in the lower right corner you have your 7 icons. Make sure the Area Snap is not selected. Its the icon that looks like a grid.

Danny SteigerPilot ProI had this – had to do a registry reset:
Start – type “Maintenance tools” – enter or click
select “2020 Design Registry Reset”This should do the trick, however you will lose any of your customizations to your work area (e.g. if you chose to disable ribbon mode it will be back to on by default, any other preferences will be reset to factory settings, and all toolbars will return to factory settings)
As a side note, @Neil, this is one of the most frustrating things about updating, registry resetting, or anything that requires changing all the preferences back… Any chance that could somehow save your preferences?

Neil WilsonParticipantHey Danny,
Right now there is no way to save the settings but the ability to do so is something that is being looked into. If they ever give me any kind of timetable information I will pass it along.

I wrote a little script that saves the registry settings to the desktop. If you ever have issues, you just double click the file on the desktop and it restores your settings. Obviously you run my script when everything is working perfectly.

Works with V10 and V11

Pilot ProI turn my area snap off, but it keeps coming back on by itself. Does it have to be turned off for each new design? Each design session?

Neil WilsonParticipantHi Lin,
No, that feature should be a toggle and it should be remembered from session to session. Since you mentioned it I have noticed it happening on my computer as well. Not frequently but every couple of days or so I notice its back on. We’ll look into it here and see if we can reproduce. If we can we’ll see what we can do to stop it from happening. 🙂

Participantthe registry save script has been an absolute Life saver for me.
I have to reset the registry about once a week. Ok, maybe I don’t have to but when Design starts getting all funky resetting the registry helps a lot.

Participantwhere is the toggle to turn snap on and off? I can’t find it anywhere – and no, it’s not in the lower left of the screen…
