Background

The Panelling Centre is a kitchen supplier based in Ireland. It has been operating since 1973 and works with both trade professionals and home renovators. They have seven Panelling Centre showrooms across Ireland, along with numerous partners designing and selling their kitchens.

Challenges & objectives

Over the last year, the kitchen industry, like many other businesses, has had to adapt their approach to serve clients and deliver products during COVID-19 lockdowns. The Panelling Centre’s main goal is to provide customers with the kitchen of their dreams, and with the time constraints of working within social distance measures, every minute with the client counts.

Solution

The Panelling Centre offered online design consultations to customers who were unable to travel, which was made possible with 2020 Fusion and Microsoft Teams. 2020 Fusion allowed their designers to collaborate with customers and finalise projects remotely. The 360 panoramas were especially helpful because they offered customers an immersive 3D experience from the comfort of their own home.

They also adopted new approaches such as appointment-only design consultations to reduce the number of clients and colleagues in branches, and they introduced a virtual showroom tour to give both trade professionals and homeowners more ways to browse their vast range of products online.

Future plans

“When we look to the future for The Panelling Centre,” says Anthony Ridgeway, general manager at The Panelling Centre, “this is really exciting. As part of Chadwicks Group, we are going through a digital transformation transition which will see our business open up more opportunities with an eCommerce website in the near future.”

“We have already created a virtual tour of our recently refurbished Showroom in Santry, Dublin,” continues Ridgeway, “as well as offering online design consultations for those customers who want to plan their interiors projects from the comfort of their homes. We are always staying up-to-date with the latest trends in interiors, and looking ahead to what’s next for innovative products that will greatly benefit our trade customers, and in turn provide quality solutions for homeowners."

Realistic rendering

In light of current events, with offices closing and social distancing preventing us from many of the usual methods of conducting business, we find the 360 panoramas are important in helping clients visualise their space in a very realistic way.
