Hi, I’m using an old sony laptop with i7-2e gen, 6Gb ram, old graphic card and 500Gb HD. I just bought a brand new laptop Lenovo I7-7500, 8Gb ram, NVidia GTX 950, 256GB SSD and I don’t see a big performance difference between both system. The new laptop is about 5-10% more fast when I render a design. Is it normal? I’m using 2020 Design 10.5.0.27 (if I’m not wrong). Any idea why?

Thx all and sorry for my english, I’m french 🙂

My experience with numerous configurations (30+ users) is that 2020 Design is primarily about processor speed. I see almost no difference between a systemm with a high spec NVidia card and a lower spec one. If I was looking for a laptop now, I’d be looking for one with an i7-7700K as this turbos to 4.5GHz (yours has a max of 3.5GHz).

Also V10 is just not as good as V11.7 onwards – the later software splits the rendering engine off from the main software and that seems to have resulted in a moderate speedup.
