Creating a new work area tab?

Is it possible to create a new work area tab?  Clients love it when I populate my designs with items from the ROOM catalogs, but contractors hate it when those same items clutter up the drawings.  It’s time consuming to add that stuff then delete it all.  If I created a special tab that didnt show stuff from the ROOM catalogs, it would be a big time saver.

If there is a different solution to this, please fill me in!

There may be a way to add another tab, I’m not sure, but a work around would be to modify one of the existing tabs (take NKBA for example).

Go to said tab and double click on the work area (or right click and chose Display settings).  In the first tab you can expand the General, Residential, & Components and then select which items you want to display in this tab.  It might take some trial and error, but once you have your selections finalized in the same screen you can save the design scheme.  Once you save the scheme you can click OK, then go File – Preferences… –  Display Tab Schemes – and select the scheme you saved for the default under NKBA.

Hopefully that helps!  If not, hopefully someone has another idea, and I’d love to learn as well!

(side note – just realized that you might have been talking about renderings?  If so, then no, I’m not aware of anyway to not render items short of deleting them.  But again, if anyone else knows I’d love to know!)

      Hey Chris,

I believe you can do that by modifying your scheme. If you go in to display settings, items, general, plan elements, you can turn off decorative items. Save the scheme and away you go. You could set the modified scheme as the default in one of the other tabs that you don’t use, say NKBA or Print, in the display tabs scheme preference and it will be there ready to go.

You can also rename the tab just by double clicking on the name.
