Room Measuring – Import routine

      Hi,

As you know we have been chasing an import option for automated room measuring systems for at least 4-5 years. MagicPlan is too inaccurate and eLaser/eTemplate does not allow metric formats to include wall items such as light switches etc (the issue is actually with 2020 Design and not eLaser as eLaser outputs an XML with the objects and their position correctly defined).

Is there ANY solution on the market that allows Metric format room measurements to be imported along with floor, wall and ceiling objects? We already have eLaser/eTemplate along with a Leica 3D Disto that cost around $20,000 and it is just sitting there.

      Thanks

      Mike

      Hello Mike,

I am not familiar with eLaser/eTemplate.

However did you know that MagicPlan can be used in conjunction with a laser measuring tool?

Once capturing the layout room layout with MagicPlan, you can manually edit any dimension by clicking on it and dynamically input the dimension captured by a laser.

      Thank you,

      Santiago

Hi Santiago, thanks for the reply.

Even with a laser tape (I bought a suitable one to try), MagicPlan is not ideal as it is still a manual measuring method – we are trying to use automated room scanning systems. Also, the problem is not with the room scanning systems but with 2020s import routine that does not accept metric items in the way it should nor does it allow for other items (in metric mode). Both you and Paola should have an email thread regarding this.

Is there anybody at all who can help with this – we have been chasing our tail on this for at least 4 years.

The room scanning systems import perfectly into Cabinet Vision but we do not want to change as it is $4,000 a seat and we have 24 users.
