Do not install the new Windows 10 update that came out yesterday 11.01.17. It is Windows 10 Fall Creators Update Version 1709 OS Build 16299.19. It does not play nicely with the 2020 Design version 11.8.1.69. Basically you can open 2020 but it will not open any drawings and will crash 2020.

      Hey Michele,

Thanks for sharing.  Would you be able to provide a description of the message if any appears (Maybe a screenshot) and perhaps send us one of the corrupted designs to residentialsupport@2020spaces.com?

      Hi Neil,

2020 did not have a warning pop-up. It would open as normal but when you clicked on a design to open it would just give the crash window saying it would send the issue to Windows, then the window ‘this design is not responding’ and then completely close out. Hope that helps. I have already uninstalled the Windows update until you tell us it will work so I can’t take a screen shot.

Oh, and it didn’t corrupt the drawings, just got the “circle” waiting to load but then it would just shut down. After removing the Windows Update and going back into 2020 the drawings were there and opened fine.

Thanks Michelle. A lot of people in numerous IT forums are reporting issues with this update.

      Microsoft do it again!

Is there any update to this? We installed the update and when starting 2020 get the error that msvcr100.dll and msvcp100.dll are missing – 2020 won’t even start.

      Hi Jackie,

those 2 files are related to the Microsoft Visual C++ windows component.  It’s possible something happened to the files during the update.  That or something on your computer ate them :-).

You can download the C++ from Microsoft directly and reinstall them.  The versions that 2020 uses are C++ 2008, 2010, and 2013.

Double check your Windows Updates though because they often contain updates for the .net framework and the C++ and running them might just restore the files.

      Neil
