This is in regards to 2020 Design V9.1.1.466. The problem is that I cannot run “Reports on Design”. I get error messages and then 2020 Design crashes to desktop. Either there is something wrong with my installation, or there are files or a component missing somewhere that I am not aware of. I could really use some help to figure this out. I have included some links to screenshots of the problem below.

1.png – This image is what I am trying to run. Reports on Design.

2.png – This image is what pops up when I click on Reports on Design.

3.png – When I click OK on the previous screen, this is what pops up.

When I click on OK for the final screen that pops up, it goes away. Then 2020 Design just crashes to desktop a few seconds later. Not entirely sure what is going on here. I’ve installed 2020 Design V9.1.1.466 the same exact way on three different computers, and it seems to be working fine on the other two computers. I don’t think that there are any differences in the catalogs that I am using either.

If there is a solution to this issue I would really appreciate some help in figuring out what it may be. I would like to avoid trying to reinstall the entire program to see if that fixes the issue, because it is quite time consuming. Without being able to do this I can’t do pricing from within 2020, so I really need to figure out what is going on here.

      Hi Tom,

try going into the maintenance tools and in internal tools you should see register 2020 files.  Run that and if you receive no error messages it should fix your issue.  If you get errors during the register give us a call at 1-866-697-2020.  If you get errors there are some files in the software that will need to be given administrative permissions in order to successfully register the files.

I just tried that out, and yes, there were some “unexpected errors” during the process. Is there any information you can give me regarding the administrative permissions needed to register the files, or do I have to go through the phone technical support process?

I really appreciate the fast response. Thanks.

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I was able to solve the problem using the 2020 Design V9 specific Maintenance Tools. Particularly the option outlined in the image I have attached to this comment.

      Hi Tom,

The registry reset is a great tool for errors.  Especially in version 9.

The file you need to modify is in the C:\Program Files (x86)\20-20 Technologies\2020Design\Mswin\60 directory.  Find Maintenance_Tools.exe and right click, go to properties and in the compatibility tab set it to run as administrator.  That should allow you to run the register 2020 files without getting the “unexpected” errors.
