Mali Braun, co-owner of Perfect Fit Closets, talks about how implementing 2020 Catalogs has changed the trajectory of her company.
If we had not invested in 2020, I believe we would be growing at a much slower pace. Our target audience would not be as large. North America is a fairly large market. Had we not made the step to improve our catalog, our reach in the industry would be significantly limited.
Perfect Fit Closets produces custom closet components—core products, hardware, and accessories—for clients across North America.
Established in 2012 as a business-to-consumer model/custom closet provider, Perfect Fit Closets soon recognized significant industry gaps—gaps the company decided it was the perfect fit to fill. The company transitioned into a distribution-based wholesale business with plans to expand its reach into the rest of North America.
With this transition from B2C to B2B, Perfect Fit needed to find a solution to updating its existing catalogs. According to co-owner Mali Braun, “We were using catalogs that were perhaps outdated. The color and profile selections were not keeping up with the industry trends, and we felt that it was very important for us to go down the road of having a little bit more control over that. Products were not frequently updated, which did not serve our business well.”
Once the company partnered with 2020 —A Cyncly Company, not only did Perfect Fit address a significant pain point, but it found that 2020’s product offerings, as well as their customer service, brought a sense of dependability to the company in addition to the efficiency and effectiveness of 2020 Catalogs, a product that soon transformed Perfect Fit Closets into an industry leader in the closet component arena.
In this industry especially, it is essential to offer clients up-to-date catalogs. Braun outlined the need for a product to manage such a critical part of their business. “If we had not invested in 2020, I believe we would be growing at a much slower pace. Our target audience would not be as large. North America is a fairly large market. Had we not made the step to improve our catalog, our reach in the industry would be significantly limited.”
Furthermore, implementing 2020 into their business allows Perfect Fit to strive for an international market. “Because of 2020’s large footprint, we can vastly increase our demographic by giving our customers a wider range of customization capabilities. There’s a lot of room for growth, and we’re excited about giving our customers a little bit more to choose from right at their fingertips. Upon implementing 2020 Catalog, we can get a niche in the market, which allows us to customize our design catalog and allow the designers to go into that mid to high-range consumer home. That customization ability has allowed us to avoid the standard sizing that most other vendors heavily cater to.”
When asked to quantify the ROI of working with 2020, Braun said, “The measurable benefits or the return on our investment with 2020? There are definitely a few. One is our closing ratio with the prospects we bring on. They want to sign on immediately when they hear we’re partnering with 2020. The other measurable that I can discuss is the increase we've seen over the last four-plus years of implementing the 2020 Catalog. We have seen annual growth of around 30% of the businesses we've signed on.”
Using 2020 Design Live has also changed the customer experience for designers using Perfect Fit’s products. “Using 2020 Design Live has given our designers the advantage of working within a program with which some are already very familiar. 2020, having a significant footprint in the industry, has allowed us to get into the kitchen industry as well. And these designers breathe a sigh of relief when they hear that we have 2020. It's a catalog they're familiar with, and it allows them to work in the various service offerings they’re currently proposing to their consumers. According to our designers, the impact on customer satisfaction as a result of enabling 2020 catalog for Perfect Fit Closets is readily apparent. Our designers project more confidence knowing they're working in a catalog with which they're familiar. They place a great deal of trust in Perfect Fit Closets, knowing a software company as large as 2020 is behind us.”
What else has 2020 made possible for Perfect Fit Closets? “2020 has empowered us to have higher goals. We currently cater to over 100 companies across North America that could be anywhere from one designer to 30-plus designers in an organization. 2020 has allowed us to set a goal to grow that number to around 300 over the next few years as we venture into the international market. Also, our next endeavor is to return to the business-to-consumer space and develop programs to enable homeowners to use Perfect Fit to design and install their own closets. 2020 is absolutely going to be a vital partner in that journey.”
Braun doesn’t hold back when she describes the relationship between her company and 2020. “My experience with 2020 has been very warm and fuzzy,” she laughs. “From the support team, the product, the product's capabilities—it all provides us a lot of motivation and gives me hope for the future of Perfect Fit Closets and the growth that I want to see for this business, my team, and our dealers. It’s definitely been a positive experience that I would recommend to any organization looking to establish a solid foundation and build a product with the right support team behind them.”
“In order for us to keep growing, we need a company that can grow with us. That company is 2020.”
