There are several things that would be really great to have.

1. Ability to design multiple rooms in 1 file. I was using software 20 years ago that had tabs at the bottom where you could add a new room and switch between rooms. This was far superior to drawing everything is one big open space like you have to do in 2020. It helps tremendously with renderings, too.

2. That same software I was using 20 years ago had better lighting and rendering capabilities. I think it’s time for 2020 to catch up.

3. When I want to change the appearance of hardware in a drawing, I have to go to global attributes and change the style by randomly selection a number. There is no reference to what the style actually is. So if the manufacturer’s catalog doesn’t have a selection option, I’m stuck wasting time trying to find something that looks right.

4. Custom colors. I do a lot of custom colors for my customers and there is no way to change the color of the cabinets without going through global attributes and changing it for 50 different parts. It’s basically impossible because of the amount of time it would take.

5. There is no way to change the default countertop thickness in preferences. It’s always 1 1/2″ and unfortunately most people are using 3cm stone or quartz around here. So my only option is to draw the tops, then manually go through and change each one to 1 3/16″. This small dimension can affect my drawing in a major way when I’m trying to line up to tall cabinets and I have uppers sitting on a countertop. Please add a way to change the default.

6. Ceiling heights are horrible if you’re working with 2 different heights. The software I had 20 years ago had a way to edit ceilings.

7. Window options are horrible. It would be nice to be able to change the casing with on cased windows.

8. I haven’t installed the latest update of 2020 because it seems so pointless. There are soooo many things to actually improve and that last update does nothing.

There are a million other things I could add. These are just the first to come to mind.

In all honesty, if it weren’t for manufacturer catalogs, 2020 wouldn’t even be an option. I’m almost to the point of designing in CAD and pricing manually. I think it would be more efficient. My license is up in December. I might just let it expire.

Please get it together.
