Email me and I can send you my number I’ll walk you through it no problem. jeremy@ksmonterey.com What version are you using? I use 11.2.0.60. SketchUp is super easy to use. The problem is with the latest updates the import function gets corrupted on the 2015 model. The work around is simple select an older version. Click on the object >> select version 2014 or 2013 and it should import fine. There are a ton of junk models that were simply created incorrectly. I would also stay away from heavy files (ie large MB) 20/20 doesn’t handle them too well.
To do a back-splash can be a big pain in the a$$. I use a full version of SketchUp and create them mostly. You can also try and find from the manufactures of the tiles the tile you need and make a 18″ x 18″ block and map it out with the SURFACE tool in 18″ segments, it works pretty nice. You can use a simple picture editor to make the 18″ block. I does work it just takes time.
Windows and scenes take a time as well. When I go to my clients house I take pictures with my HD phone out each and every window in the room( I also take a 360 degree pic of the whole space for reference) . I then do the math to shrink or expand the picture in a Photo Editor so I can then cut it into sections or leave it whole to span it across the windows. I do this by using the SURFACE tool instead of putting the pic in the window. I think it looks better.
The SURFACE tool does disappear a lot, it is glitchy… I just redraw a lot.
