Hello Caroline!
The easiest way to select the placement zone will be using the Architecture tab.
If by accident the placement zone was removed through the properties of the wall you can simply copy\paste the design on a new FP, that will bring back the placement zone then just select the Architecture tab in order to easy select the placement zone.
