2022 Bathroom Trends

Bathroom trends evolve year after year, some timeless, some (luckily) temporary. This year, we asked some of our most trusted interior designers who specialize in bathroom design to share what the latest and hottest trends are and what we should expect to see in 2022.

In our 2022 bathroom trends report, we cover floor tiles, vanities, storage, and more. Read on to find out about the top 5 bathroom design styles that will dominate this year.

2022 Bathroom Trends

Vintage furniture

Vintage furniture pieces are becoming more and more popular in the realm of interior design in general, and specifically in 2022 bathroom trends. Vintage dressers and tables are being restored and transformed into unique bathroom vanities, becoming beautiful—not to mention interesting—statement pieces.

Organic elements

As per the NKBA’s interior design trends report, organic and natural elements will continue to surge in popularity in 2022. Natural materials such as natural stone countertops and sustainable flooring and cabinetry will be prevalent this year. Rounded shapes will also take center stage in the form of curved mirrors, sinks, faucets and tubs, mimicking the curved silhouettes found in nature.

Other organic elements include plants and natural sunlight, which fall under the umbrella of biophilic design.

Floating vanities & thick countertops

Floating vanity
2022 bathroom trends call for floating vanities and vanities with legs that offer a cleaner, airier and less bulky feel. Thick countertops (3+ centimeters) will accompany these types of vanities for a bolder, more prominent look.

Ample storage solutions

In an effort to diminish visual clutter, clients are requesting as much storage space as possible throughout the house, especially bathroom storage. Linen closets, storage towers, cabinets, drawers and open shelves will be extremely popular in 2022 bathroom designs.

Subdued terrazzo tiles

Unlike the bold terrazzo tiles that were part of our 2020 bathroom trends report, 2022 will bring rise to a more subdued version of the tiles. Monochrome terrazzo floor tiles mainly in greys, whites and blacks will be preferred over the multicolored, whimsical tiles that were used during the past two years.
